Chimera African Violets And Seed Production

Here is yet another example in a series of demonstrations that crosses between chimera African violets 1) can occur and 2) can produce viable seeds.  Refer to posts Refer to the Dec 1 2010 post just click here and the April 1 2010 posting.  Below is the latest example of a seed pod forming that was the result of a cross between “Party Fun” and “Concord”.

Now grant it,  not all crosses work or work 100% of the time.  Just like any non-African violet attempt to pollinate two varieties success is not guaranteed.  The question now becomes, is the pollination success rate between non-chimera African violets better then chimera African violets and if so what is the percentage differential if it exists?  A nice little experiment that can taken on by someone.
